How to create and add Alexa ranking Widget in your blog

Alexa has made a recent site modification and old method does not work any more. Instead, they have added a simple hassle free method on their official site to create Alexa ranking widget. Basically you can do it in two different ways. 1) Adding a simple HTML code in your blog 2)  Or you can use a free WordPress Plugin.

Method 1:

Head over to this Alexa Widget page. There you will be given 2 different widgets option. Choose the one you want and copy the HTML Snippet. It looks like this.

<a href=”“><script type=”text/javascript” src=”“></script></a>”

You need to make a slight alteration here. Just change “” to your Website name (both places).

Now go to your WordPress dashboard > Appearance > Widgets >. Select Text widget and Paste the HTML Snippet. Don’t forget to hit save button please.

That’s it. You have successfully added Alexa Ranking widget in your blog and it should display your current traffic ranking.

Note: If your website is brand new then it might not show any immediate traffic data. It will eventually, when your site start getting some visitors.

Method 2:

This method requires installing a third party plugin in your blog. Unless you are really uncomfortable, it is highly recommended to opt for the method one to add Alexa rank widget to your blog manually. Because installing too many unnecessary plugin in website is harmful to site performance.

Anyways, if you really want to use another plugin to add Alexa widget, let me show you how you can do that.

Download the plugin from here. After that, install and activate the plugin. Once you are done, navigate to widget section > select the Alexa widget and drag and drop or add that in your sidebar/footer or anywhere else you would like. You’re down to the final step and all you need to do is to replace default domain name to your site name/domain name and hit save button.

Both methods are quite easy to follow and for your convenient I have made a YouTube video that will help you to create and add Alexa ranking Widget in your blog.
